The research in the Professorship of Colloids, Surfaces and Interfaces (CSI) at the Otto Schott Institute for Materials Research is based on the following main topics

Laser Materials Processing

  • Surface modification using Laser-induced Periodic Surface Structures (LIPSS)
  • Surface coating by Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD)
  • Production of functional ceramic nanoparticles using CO2 laser vaporization (LAVA)

Bioinspired Material

Material characterization is performed by TEM, SEM, XRD, EDX, Raman and IR spectroscopy.
